The Juki Corporation has managed to carve out a substantial niche for itself in the sewing machine industry by producing great quality machines. Juki machines are known for their innovativeness and usability. Each machine combines the best technology in an easy-to-use machine, making it possible for people of all ages and abilities to enjoy their products. Juki is a relatively young company compared to some of the other sewing machine manufacturers in the market. While this might hinder other companies from gaining their own piece of market share, it has only given Juki the drive it needs to succeed in an already saturated market.
Brief History
Juki began in 1938 when around 900 machine manufacturers in Tokyo decided to invest in a joint corporation under the name “Tokyo Juki Manufacturers Association.” After being reorganized as a joint stock corporation under the name, “Tokyo Juki Industrial CO., ltd,” the company began to manufacture sewing machines in 1947. Then, in 1957 the company was awarded the Imperial Invention Award for the invention of the single-axis rotational thread take-up lever, giving them the push they needed to compete in the industry among the sewing machine giants. Juki continued to grow and expand over the next fifty years. In 1997, Juki was again recognized for its advancements with the Japan Society Prize for the Promotion of the Machine Industry to commend the development of the world’s first “bobbin thread automatic feeder” for industrial sewing machines.
Products
Today the Juki Corporation deals in three areas of manufacturing: industrial sewing machines, SMT (Surface Mount Technology) systems and household and semi-professional sewing machines. The household sewing machines created by Juki are advanced enough for day to day tasks, but simple enough that even people who have never sewn before will be able to use them. These machines allow the user to create stitching, zig-zag stitches and create buttonholes. There are also some models with additional features like automatic thread tension adjustment, reverse stitching and thread trimming functions. The semi-professional machines are designed for sewing enthusiasts. These machines are twice as fast as home models, more durable, handle variable materials and provide a larger workspace. They also come with features like presser feet and work clamps.
Buying Second Hand
If you are looking to save money on your next Juki machine, you will want to consider purchasing it second hand. There are some great deals currently on the web on machines that have been carefully and properly looked after but are no longer needed by the seller. When you are shopping, keep in mind what features are important to you and remember to ask the seller lots of questions about the condition of the machine. Take a little time researching your machine, and you’ll be able to find the perfect Juki sewing machine for a great low price.
